Who am I?
Hey there! I'm Juanjo, a 24-year-old software engineer who has been working for an insurtech company for the last 2 and a half years after graduating from university. Actual picture of me:
I come from a small city in Spain called Seville that is mostly known for our country’s famed traditions like flamenco and bullfighting. However, I personally enjoy my hometown for how welcoming our people are and its food (we've got some delicious tapas here ⬇️).
Food talks aside, as I navigate through the twists and turns of my career in the tech industry, I've decided to embark on a new adventure – starting this blog.
My journey so far
After graduating in Computer Engineering from the University of Seville in 2021, I was contacted by Joanna through LinkedIn for a spot in Coverwallet's Excellence Fellowship program (an internship program for students with high marks). Little did I know, the real challenges lay ahead as I stepped into the world of tech.
Why this blog?
Reflecting on my journey, I realized there were gaps in my knowledge and experience that I hadn't anticipated. The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted my last university years, leaving me struggling to find my footing in the job market. Due to the impact of the pandemic, I believe that I missed lots of opportunities to make connections and discuss with my colleagues how to continue with our careers as Software Engineers.
Now, with almost three years of industry experience under my belt, I've come to appreciate the importance of building a personal brand and sharing insights with fellow tech enthusiasts. I should have started this time ago, but I didn't even know this was a thing. Late to the party or not, I will give it a try!
What to expect
This blog will be my tech playground, where I'll share everything from tech tutorials and book reviews to anecdotes about fixing the local flower shop's website. It's a work in progress, and I invite you to join me on this journey of self-discovery and growth.
